Rare Turtle Hatches at the Tennessee Aquarium
A rare Beal's four eyed turtle hatches at the Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga Tennessee. This is only the second of this species to hatch in a public aquarium or zoo in North America. Both were at the Tennessee Aquarium. The species Sacalia bealei are listed as an endangered species. Rare turtle births like this one add individuals to so-called assurance populations in captivity
